    No Make-Up Days Needed in Osceola Schools As Result Of Hurricane Matthew

    Immediately after Hurricane Matthew passed through our area, Osceola School Superintendent Dr. Debra Pace was in communication with the Florida Department of Education as to whether make-up days due to lost instructional time would be needed. Because the district exceeds the state requirement of instructional minutes without the two days missed, no makeup days in the Osceola School District are required.

As education is at the heart of our thriving community, the Osceola School District is focused on a clear mission to provide the highest quality of education to our children. We do that by creating a strategic plan with the School Board that aligns the district’s dollars, staff time, and resources to what best supports the highest of expectations for our students. Parents have every right to expect that outstanding instruction is taking place in every classroom every day, and all of our community residents, businesses, and organizations can be assured that they are welcome to become engaged with our schools. As we continue to build on our collective strengths and grow where we have opportunities, the focus will always remain on supporting our students so that they soar higher than they ever thought possible.

MESSAGE FROM SCHOOL BOARD


School Board

As a School Board, we are proud that the Osceola County School District is a formidable economic engine in the Central Florida area. Osceola’s future economic growth and increased prosperity are assured with the new Medical City on its northern border, Walt Disney World and other attractions to the west, a new Valencia College campus coming to Poinciana, and the Florida Advanced Manufacturing Center, a new high-tech manufacturing facility, in the heart of the county. Strong community involvement, collaboration, and support for public education exist throughout the county. Despite rapid growth, Osceola has been able to preserve its rural heritage, a trait desired by so many other communities. Without a doubt, the Osceola County School District is poised to continually build on past successes and to realize educational possibilities that reflect the highest of expectations for all students.
